Landsburgh is an economist - you know, those acacemics who dictate things and ruin people's lives in grand scale by justifying their "findings" by dodgy statistics. Their point of view is based on mathematics of the kind that has little to do with reality. And they publish only things that fit to their preconceived ideologies - socialist or capitalist or what have you.

Of course, Landsburg would try to justify this position and would eventually say the equivalent to "You just don't get it". Oh, I do. People can find justifications for anything they do. That's psychology and sociology. Which are more based on reality than economics.

But remember; economists are the people politicians listen to the most in these days. So things are probably just going to get worse.

Landsburgh is not a good economist; he is of the Chicago School of Economics at the time of supply-side economic philosophy. Sounds like he's back at his old tricks -- the "you just don't get it" is very familiar, since he taught economics in the grad school program I was in. He is the reason that I think of economics as pseudo-science fiction.
